Barrel Aging Program
We are excited to announce that we now offer Barrel Aging! You don't have to round up ten friends to fill a huge barrel in order to experience the difference a Hungarian Oak Barrel makes, since we have barrels small enough to fit a batch of wine (30 bottles).
Aging wine in an oak wood barrel essentially does two things: it allows a very slow introduction of oxygen into the wine which imparts the character of the oak and starts a very slow concentration of the specific flavor to the wine. Wine in the oak barrel goes through many complex chemical changes. Oak barrel aging imparts a greater complexity to the wine while softening any harsh tannins present at the end of fermentation. Many subtle flavors are brought out during oak barrel aging.

The well known effect of specific wood on different wines is very often the subject of great discussion and experimentation among wine makers throughout the world.
Here at Carafe Wine Brantford, our fleet of oak barrels is rarely empty. Most of our customers know the benefits of our Oak Barrel Aging process and take advantage of it as often as possible.
